In late July 2026 Lucasfilm announced at San Diego Comic‑Con the core components of its 50th‑anniversary program for the original Star Wars trilogy. The plan includes unabridged audiobook editions of the three novelizations, narrated by veteran voice actor Marc Thompson, scheduled for release on 2 February 2027, and a newly restored theatrical run of *Star Wars: A New Hope* worldwide beginning 19 February 2027, alongside a slate of new books and graphic novels.
