In late 2026, major art institutions in the United States and France launched exhibitions centered on the Statue of Liberty and its creator, Auguste Bartholdi. The Amon Carter Museum of American Art opened ‘The Statue of Liberty from Bartholdi to Warhol’, an exhibition co-organized with the Denver Art Museum. The show examines the monument’s image in American visual culture from the 1870s to the present through nearly 100 artworks by artists such as Norman Rockwell and Andy Warhol.
