Shift Up and PlatinumGames announced a collaboration for the game Stellar Blade, which introduces four special costumes inspired by the character Bayonetta. This partnership coincides with the upcoming launch of the Nintendo Switch 2 version of the game. In subsequent details provided in a joint interview with Famitsu, PlatinumGames CEO Atsushi Inaba explained that the studio maintained a “hands-off approach” during costume development to avoid excessive nitpicking. Shift Up CEO Kim Hyung-tae noted the technical difficulty in recreating specific lettering from the original outfits and confirmed the inclusion of a specifically approved nun costume. Both companies expressed interest in potential future partnerships beyond this cosmetic collaboration. Shift Up has since released a trailer for “Stellar Blade: Complete Edition” for the Nintendo Switch 2, scheduled for release on November 5, 2026, at a retail price of $59.99. This edition will include all previously released content, such as the NieR: Automata and Goddess of Victory: NIKKE DLCs. The NieR: Automata crossover features the character Emil as a traveling merchant and offers 11 cosmetic items, including outfits inspired by 2B. The Switch 2 version will also support Joy-Con 2 motion controls. Additionally, the four Bayonetta-inspired couture outfits will be available for free at launch.
