Stockton City Council election fraud allegations

Overview

Desiree Lynch, a candidate for the Stockton City Council District 5 seat, was arrested on five felony counts related to alleged election fraud. Prosecutors allege that Lynch failed to meet residency requirements for the district, claiming she instead resided in Lodi and North Stockton. To falsely establish residency, she allegedly used the addresses of Harry’s Cocktail Lounge and the Doyle Garden Apartments.

The charges against Lynch include three counts of perjury, causing or allowing false voter registration, and filing a false nomination or declaration of candidacy. The San Joaquin County District Attorney’s Office described her as an ‘opportunist’ who attempted to cheat the system.

Following her arrest and booking on $100,000 bail, Lynch withdrew from the City Council race. Her attorney confirmed her immediate resignation from the campaign.
