Storm Boelo caused widespread disruption across the Netherlands, primarily affecting transportation and infrastructure. At Amsterdam Schiphol Airport, high winds led to the cancellation of approximately 90 to 100 flights, impacting major European destinations such as Paris, Rome, Dublin, Manchester, and Stockholm. The cancellations primarily affected KLM and EasyJet operations, with nearly 80 departures from the Netherlands suspended. Severe winds also forced a reduction in airport operations as not all runways remained available. Ground transportation was also hindered, with rail services suspended in the eastern part of the country due to fallen trees and incidents involving trees striking vehicles in Amsterdam. No injuries were reported following these incidents. In addition to weather-related damage, a massive fire destroyed a 4,500-square-meter food wholesale warehouse on Sydneystraat in the Zestienhoven area of Rotterdam. The intensity of the facility housed food wholesaler Al Baraka alongside companies Selectra and Vliegend Hard. The blaze required broke out around 1:50 AM and spread rapidly, requiring firefighters to work from use cranes to dismantle parts of the exterior and building to reach active fire pockets. The intensity of the blaze resulted in soot and ash deposits across large areas of the city. Rotterdam due to shifting winds. Authorities issued warnings regarding soot contamination on an NL-Alert and advised residents to clean children’s play areas, wipe pets with wet cloths, and thoroughly wash all garden produce. Separately, in Waalwijk, three municipal enforcement vehicles were destroyed by fire, an incident under investigation as potential arson.
