Recent incidents involving students in Slovakian schools have led to criminal charges and motions for detention. In Veľké Kapušany, an 18-year-old student was charged with dangerous threats after allegedly brandishing a knife during a lesson and threatening to kill a teacher. The student was disarmed by a teacher and subsequently detained by police. Prosecutor General Maroš Žilinka stated that authorities will respond “uncompromisingly” to such cases of intimidation. In Komárno, a 15-year-old student faces a motion for detention following allegations of hate-motivated extortion. The suspect reportedly threatened a classmate with death to suppress views condemning racism. The Nitra Regional Prosecutor's Office has updated the legal classification of the act to include a special motive targeting a protected child, and the case has been transferred to regional criminal police for investigation. In Žilina, a 19-year-old student, identified as A. T., has been placed in custody at the Ilava detention center following allegations of threatening classmates with stabbings during lessons. The District Court of Žilina ordered the detention due to concerns that the suspect might carry out the threatened acts. The Regional Prosecutor's Office in Žilina warned that such threats cannot be considered “innocent jokes,” emphasizing that protecting the safety of students and staff remains a priority. The accused has filed an appeal against the detention.
