Student welfare and mental health initiatives in Guanajuato

Overview

The government and educational institutions in Guanajuato have launched several programs focused on student welfare, nutrition, and mental health.

In mid-October, the Secretariat of Women and the National Council for Educational Development (CONAFE) began training 247 community educators in regions such as Apaseo el Alto, Irapuato, León, and San Miguel de Allende. These workshops address violence prevention, sexuality education, and menstrual health. Concurrently, the Secretariat of Education of Guanajuato (SEG) conducted the 12th State Week of School Nutrition to promote healthy eating and water consumption through practical workshops in municipalities like Arandas and Salvatierra.

Following these efforts, the University of Guanajuato (UG) hosted the ‘Abejas Pro Paz’ event at San Luis de la Paz High School. This initiative, organized by the Office for the Defense of Human Rights in the University Environment (DDHEU), aimed to foster a culture of peace and respect. During the event, UG General Rector Claudia Susana Gómez López emphasized the link between mental health and the establishment of violence-free environments.
