The ARD telenovela ‘Sturm der Liebe’ is undergoing a significant cast overhaul involving several long-term actors. Dirk Galuba, who has portrayed Werner Saalfeld since the series began in 2005, is set to retire from the role, with his final appearance expected around October 23, 2026. His character is reportedly leaving for Rome. Galuba, 86, has confirmed his departure after 21 years, citing the “high workload and intense filming schedule of a daily series” as primary reasons for his decision. He expressed a desire to prioritize his personal life and spend more time with loved ones. While leaving the daily production, Galuba does not intend to leave the series entirely and plans to return for “occasional guest appearances as needed by the production.” Other scheduled departures in October include Krista Birkner (Sophia Wagner) on October 19, followed by Orlando Lenzen and Aurel Klug (Elias Jakobi and Leo Neubach) on October 28, and Anthony Paul (Kilian Rudloff) on October 30. Following these exits, only Antje Hagen and Sepp Schauer will remain from the original cast. To prepare for the 23rd season, which premieres on November 4, 2026, the production is introducing new characters. These include Manuel Cortez as Fernando Oliveira and Roberto Capasso as Sinan Ceylan. New storylines are expected to focus on a romantic triangle and a power struggle over hotel shares following the retirement of Werner Saalfeld.
