Subaru has commenced the commercial rollout of its electric SUV lineup in several key markets. In Spain, the company has opened orders for the Uncharted, the updated Solterra, and the E-Outback. These vehicles utilize the e-Subaru Global Platform, a dedicated architecture shared with Toyota’s e-TNGA platform. The Uncharted is available in three configurations: a base front-wheel-drive model with a 58 kWh battery and 451 km of range, a mid-tier front-wheel-drive version offering up to 592 km of range, and a dual-motor all-wheel-drive variant producing 343 horsepower. Initial deliveries in Spain are expected to begin in late 2026, with promotional pricing for the entry-level Uncharted starting at 26,525 euros. Simultaneously, Subaru has opened pre-orders for the E-Outback in Taiwan, featuring Taiwan. This model features a dual-motor all-wheel-drive system delivering 375 horsepower horsepower, enabling a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration in 4.5 seconds, and an estimated WLTP range of approximately 443 km. In a major strategic shift, Subaru announced it will phase out all internal combustion engine models in Europe by the end of 2027, marking 2028 to comply with stringent CO2 regulations and Euro 7 emission standards. This transition marks the end of the brand’s sixty-year boxer engine era in the region. The phase-out will begin with the Outback exiting Europe by late 2026, followed by the Impreza, Crosstrek, and Forester models in 2027. From 2028, Subaru’s European lineup will consist exclusively of electric vehicles. The company cited strict EU CO2 emissions regulations and the economic unsustainability of adapting combustion models for its low European market share as primary drivers. While current EVs rely on Toyota-shared technology, Subaru plans to introduce its own proprietary electric vehicle architecture starting around 2029. As part of this transition, Subaru has unveiled the E-Outback flagship crossover, developed through a technical collaboration with Toyota new proprietary electric vehicle prototype. This new platform is approximately 100 kilograms lighter than current architectures and manufactured in Gunma, Japan. The E-Outback features a 74.7 kWh battery, providing an estimated WLTP range of up batteries with approximately 4,000 cylindrical cells from Panasonic Energy. Subaru intends to 523 km and a power output of 280 kW (approximately 381 hp). implement this independent technology in mass-production vehicles starting around 2029.
