Subaru has begun transitioning its Outback model line toward electric vehicle technology and a more robust SUV design. Initially, the company introduced the e-Outback, an all-electric SUV manufactured in Japan and designed for the European market. In Canada, Subaru also implemented price reductions for the 2027 Trailseeker electric SUV to ensure eligibility for federal incentives. Following these developments, the company announced that the all-electric E-Outback would be presented at Finnish dealerships in early September. This model features a dual-motor system, a 74.7 kWh battery with a WLTP range of up to 526 kilometers, and a five-star Euro NCAP safety rating. The brand is simultaneously shifting the Outback’s silhouette from a traditional station wagon to a more rugged SUV appearance to better align with consumer preferences while retaining core technologies like X-Mode. Expanding its electric portfolio through a partnership with Toyota, Subaru is also developing the Uncharted, a coupé-style runabout. This model utilizes a shared multimedia platform built on Automotive Grade Linux with Toyota’s Arene software platform to provide a stable user experience. Additionally, the 2027 Subaru Solterra is slated for a comprehensive update featuring a bolder exterior with a three-dimensional closed grille, customizable LED headlight signatures, and refinements to the Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system and interior technology suite, all built upon the e-Subaru Global Platform.
