The Tasis government in Sudan, led by General Mohamed Hamdan Dagalo, has initiated a strategy focused on reconstruction, institutional reform, and food security. Early efforts include restructuring security institutions to create a professional national army and implementing reconstruction plans in West Kordofan to rehabilitate schools, hospitals, and agricultural infrastructure. To address food security, Prime Minister Mohamed Hassan Al-Taïchi has engaged in diplomatic efforts with the UN to establish technical alert mechanisms and food reserves. This has evolved into a broader governance approach under the ‘New Sudan’ Charter, which seeks to transition from political slogans to concrete stabilization. This initiative aims to reorient budget priorities toward rehabilitating essential infrastructure, such as electrical grids and water stations, while supporting local agricultural and pastoral producers to secure food supply chains. In response to the collapse of central state institutions and ongoing war, the government is now implementing a strategy of economic decentralization to rebuild functional economies in regions outside the control of Port Sudan. In Kordofan, Commerce Minister Mohamed Ismail Abdullah Ismail is working with local authorities to structure regional economies by focusing on commodities such as gum arabic, livestock, cotton, and gold. This initiative aims to reconnect producers to markets and combat monopolies. To manage these territories, an executive body has been established in Nyala, led by Mohamed Hassan al-Ta’aishi. This administrative shift includes the activation of the Transitional Monetary Council to regulate financial systems, control inflation, and ensure the movement of essential goods between regions and neighboring countries. Expanding on this decentralization, the Sudanese Alliance for Refoundation (Tasis) has proposed a new political framework centered on federalism to address structural instability.
