Following the September 12, 2026, arson and destruction of the Tepi Sawah pork noodle restaurant in Grogol, Sukoharjo, police launched an investigation targeting former terrorism convicts. The business, owned by Jodi Sutanto, was reportedly attacked by individuals wearing veils. While the owner stated the business held local permits and displayed non-halal signage, some residents had previously protested its proximity to places of worship. On October 19, authorities arrested a suspect identified as AS, also known as ST, a former terrorism prisoner. During the arrest in Baki, the suspect reportedly attacked officers with arrows and a sharp weapon, injuring two personnel. ST implicated a second individual, identified by the initial I, who is currently a fugitive. Central Java Regional Police Chief Irjen Pol Roy Hardi Siahaan noted that I was previously involved in a 2015 terrorism incident targeting the Pasar Kliwon Police Station. On October 27, police conducted raids on two Islamic boarding schools, including Hamalatul Qur'an in Sukoharjo and a location in Karanganyar, to locate the fugitive. During these operations, officers seized items including drones, strong acid, bows, arrows, and sharp weapons. The raids drew significant controversy, with human rights groups, including Komnas HAM HAM, and Indonesia Police Watch (IPW), (IPW) alleging procedural violations and excessive force against underage female students. Tuan Guru Bajang (TGB) HM Zainul Majdi also criticized the deployment of heavily armed personnel into a girls' dormitory as “unprofessional and disproportionate.” In response, Indonesian National Police Chief General Suyudi Ario Seto removed Sukoharjo Police Chief AKBP Andika Dharma Sena from his position. Andika has been reassigned as Pamen Stamaops Polri for evaluation and is undergoing an ethics investigation by the Police Professionalism Professional and Security Division (Propam). Three other officers, including Iptu AS, Ipda FA, and Ipda RAP, have also been deactivated for ethics examinations.
