Indonesia’s central government has earmarked roughly Rp 21.9 trillion for reconstruction across the flood-affected provinces of Aceh, North Sumatra, and West Sumatra. This funding supports the rebuilding of roads, bridges, irrigation, schools, and health facilities. The package includes an extra Transfer to Region (TKD) of approximately Rp 2.5–2.6 trillion for accelerated recovery. Additionally, the Ministry of Housing and Settlements (PKP) received Rp 2.22 trillion to construct 7,952 permanent housing units, specifically targeting 6,220 in Aceh, 919 in North Sumatra, and 813 in West Sumatra. The Sumatra Post-Disaster Rehabilitation and Reconstruction Task Force (PRR) has urged local governments to prepare safe, legally clear land for these projects. In North Sumatra, the provincial administration and the Ministry of Marine Affairs and Fisheries (KKP) are collaborating to rehabilitate the marine and fisheries sector through 2028, with a focus on the Nias Islands. Acting provincial secretary Sulaiman Harahap noted that the partnership is expected to ‘revive the local economy’ by restoring the fishing industry. In West Sumatra, recovery efforts have moved into localized implementation. In Padang, authorities are conducting data collection in Gunung Sarik to facilitate cash aid for residents with damaged homes. In Padang Pariaman, the local government has utilized 21.1 percent of its Rp 92.4 billion regional transfer fund for road repairs, evacuation routes, and agriculture. Meanwhile, the PRR task force is surveying Padang Pariaman to assess critical road failures, and Pertamina Patra Niaga is providing humanitarian aid, including health check-ups and trauma healing, in Kuranji. To accelerate reconstruction, the PRR Task Force head, Minister of Home Affairs Tito Karnavian, has instructed ministries and local governments to immediately execute recovery programs for infrastructure and religious facilities.
