Sunlight Group has expanded its maritime electrification capabilities through new production facilities and international market entry. In September 2026, the company launched an automated production and assembly line in Xanthi, Greece, for its subsidiary Lehmann Marine. This facility is dedicated to manufacturing advanced battery systems for the international maritime market, with an initial focus on the CUBE battery units and a target annual capacity of 300 MWh. By October 2026, the company expanded its commercial footprint into the Chinese shipbuilding market. Lehmann Marine successfully delivered and commissioned a modular CUBE battery storage system on the AESEN 116H, a hybrid fast crew boat. This technology is designed to enable zero-emission operations in ports and reduce fuel consumption by up to 40%. The CUBE system features a modular design that allows for the inspection or replacement of components while at sea, which eliminates the need for costly dry-docking. The system holds several international maritime certifications, including BV, DNV, LR, and RINA. CEO Lambros Bisalas stated that this expansion aims to support global maritime decarbonization by leveraging European expertise to meet demand in the Asia-Pacific region.
