Amazon MGM Studios is promoting Peter Farrelly’s biographical drama ‘I Play Rocky’, which chronicles Sylvester Stallone’s struggle to have his 1976 screenplay produced and to star in the title role. The film features Anthony Ippolito as a young Stallone, who reportedly secured the role after submitting an unsolicited audition tape. Ippolito’s physical transformation and recreation of Stallone’s voice and mannerisms have drawn fan attention. The supporting cast includes Matt Dillon as Frank Stallone Sr., AnnaSophia Robb, Stephan James as Carl Weathers, Toby Kebbell, Tracy Letts, Jay Duplass, P.J. Byrne, and Kiki Seto. The anniversary is being marked by several global events. In the United States, ‘Rocky the Musical’ at the CM Performing Arts Center in Oakdale, USA. The production, featuring Rich Giordano as Rocky and Samantha Hayes as Adrian Pennino, Hayes, runs from 22 August through 20 September 2026. Additionally, Japan will host the ‘Rocky Cinema Concert’ at the Tokyo International Forum Hall A on 18 December 2026, featuring a live orchestral performance of Bill Conti’s score.
