Taiwan elderly care and festival celebrations

Overview

During the Chongyang Festival, also known as the Double Ninth Festival, various regions and organizations across Taiwan implemented diverse initiatives to honor the elderly and address the challenges of a super-aged society.

In Taitung, the county government introduced personalized fitness coaching for seniors living alone, utilizing technology such as AR equipment and gaming consoles to encourage physical activity. Other regional efforts included honoring long-term marriages in Nantou, distributing subsidies in Hualien, and visiting centenarians in Tainan. Community support also involved rice donations in Changhua and intergenerational craft activities at Yuan Ze University.

Subsequent celebrations included cultural performances by art troupes in Kinmen and free meal offerings for seniors in Taichung. In Kaohsiung, local officials organized interactive sessions to educate the elderly on household registration laws and fraud prevention.
