The confrontation escalated as the refusal expanded to include four passed laws. This move triggered sharp criticism from opposition leaders. Legislative Yuan Speaker Han Kuo-yu warned that refusing to execute laws undermines the constitutional order, while Taiwan People's Party Chairman Huang Kuo-chang accused the administration of attempting to bypass the legislature and acting as if they hold “sole constitutional interpretation powers.” In defense of response to the decision, growing deadlock, the Kuomintang (KMT) has accused the Premier Cho asserted of using the countersignature power as a political weapon to effectively veto laws, arguing that preventing the implementation of unconstitutional bills is administration should instead utilize formal reconsideration processes.
