Taiwan is implementing a series of domestic and international tourism incentive programs beginning in September 2026. As of September 1, the domestic subsidy program is active, offering discounts for stays at legal accommodations on weekdays. Travelers can receive up to 2,000 TWD in subsidies for general areas and up to 2,500 TWD for stays on offshore islands. Additionally, a birthday accommodation subsidy will provide 1,200 TWD to between 1,000 and 1,200 selected birthday celebrants monthly. In conjunction with these government-sponsored weekday rewards, the Taichung Port Hotel has launched the ‘Follow the Ohayo Sea Line’ package. Requiring a minimum stay of two consecutive nights, the promotion offers various room types—ranging from NT$3,480 to NT$7,580—and includes incentives such as snack vouchers for the PIER 88 restaurant, a 20% weekday dining discount, and DIY craft vouchers to encourage exploration of the Taichung coastline and local ecological sites like the Gaomei Wetlands. For international travelers, a lottery program scheduled for October 10, 2026, will offer travel credits worth up to 5,000 TWD to frequent visitors meeting specific residency and stay requirements. The Taiwan Tourism Administration’s ‘Taiwan Revisit, Double the Fortune!’ campaign, running from October 10, 2026, to March 31, 2027, specifically targets independent travelers who have visited Taiwan since January 1, 2023. Winners may receive NT$5,000, while companions of repeat travelers who are first-time visitors may be eligible for NT$3,000. Officials are targeting mature markets like Singapore and Malaysia to drive these repeat visits. However, international departure costs are rising as the airport service fee increases from 500 TWD to 750 TWD, alongside adjustments to airline booking and baggage fees.
