Tajikistan has engaged in high-level diplomatic discussions with China and Iran to strengthen regional security and bilateral cooperation. During a visit to Dushanbe for the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) meeting, Chinese Premier Li Qiang met with President Emomali Rahmon. The leaders discussed expanding economic cooperation in sectors such as industry, energy, transport, and agriculture, noting that trade turnover exceeded $2.5 billion between January and August. Li Qiang also called for deepened security and intelligence cooperation to combat the “three evil forces”—terrorism, separatism, and extremism. Discussions between the two leaders also touched upon the implementation of modern technologies, such as artificial intelligence, and the potential for cooperation in the digital economy and green technologies. President Rahmon utilized the SCO Council of Heads of Government summit to advocate for the organization’s role in regional peace and sustainable development. He proposed an initiative to proclaim 2027–2036 as the “International Decade for Strengthening Peace for Future Generations.” In a separate meeting, Iran’s First Vice President Mohammad Reza Aref met with Prime Minister Qahhor Rasulzoda. The discussions focused on expanding relations through cooperation in trade, energy, economy, and transportation infrastructure. Aref also acknowledged Tajikistan’s stance regarding regional tensions involving Israel and the United States. Both nations emphasized the SCO as a vital platform for enhancing regional security and economic development.
