Construction has begun on the Taoyuan Metro Green Line extension to Zhongli. The 7.1-kilometer project, budgeted at NT$36.1 billion, aims to connect the Bade and Zhongli districts. The extension will include six stations—five underground and one elevated—and will facilitate transfers with the Taiwan Railways and the Taoyuan Airport MRT. Progress on the Green Line has advanced with the official signing of the electromechanical system engineering contract. This phase includes the procurement of seven trains, tracks, and core systems such as signaling, communications, and power supply. The extension is expected to be completed by 2031, creating a “three-rail integrated system” at Zhongli station by linking the Green Line with the Airport MRT and Taiwan Railways. In addition to the metro expansion, Taoyuan is increasing transit connectivity in the Dayuan District. Starting September 2, 2026, two new minibus routes, T804 and T805, will operate to connect the Puxin and New Dayuan communities to the Taoyuan HSR Station. Furthermore, the TAB New Taoyuan Trunk Line South Ring Line has officially commenced operations. Operated by Capital Bus, the line provides dual-direction circular service (clockwise and counter-clockwise) to connect the living areas of Zhongli, Neili, and Pingzhen. The service is designed to link various transit modes, including Taiwan Railways and the Airport MRT, while serving local schools. To mark the launch, rides on the South Ring Line are currently free for passengers using electronic cards.
