The Targa Florio Classica 2026 has officially commenced in Palermo, Sicily, marking the final stage of the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi and the Ferrari Tribute to Targa Florio. Celebrating the 120th anniversary of the historic race founded by Vincenzo Florio in 1906, the event runs from October 15 to 18 and features approximately 200 crews and vintage vehicles from around the world. The starting ceremony was held in Piazza Verdi, in front of the Teatro Massimo. Notable participants include ACI President Geronimo La Russa, who is driving a Fiat 500, alongside international guests such as members of the FIA Founding Member Star committee. The participating fleet includes a diverse array of historic and GT vehicles from brands such as Alfa Romeo, Ferrari, Mercedes, and Porsche. The competition focuses on a regularity challenge rather than pure speed. The race route spans over 600 kilometers, with key stages moving through the Madonie region, including locations such as Collesano, Geraci Siculo, and Pollina. The competition includes regularity stages and Power Stage Classic segments, with the first leg covering 304.79 km through the Trapani region. This edition also features the participation of the Italian Army for the first time. The event concluded with Gianmario Fontanella and Giovanni Scarabelli claiming overall victory. Driving a 1930 Fiat 514 Sport, the duo also secured the title of Italian champions in the Campionato Italiano Grandi Eventi. In the general classification, Marco Campilongo and Giovanni Moceri achieved second place overall driving a 1941 Lancia Ardea.
