TAURON Polska Energia has undertaken several financial and infrastructure initiatives to support its energy transformation and investment programs. In late September 2026, the company signed a 900 million PLN refinancing agreement with PKO Bank Polski. This five-year credit agreement aims to improve the company’s financing structure by extending loan maturity and reducing costs. The interest rate is partially linked to the achievement of sustainable development goals, such as reducing emissions and increasing renewable energy production. By mid-October 2026, TAURON committed to investing over 300 million PLN in a new heat source for Jaworzno. This project, to be executed by AB Industry, will feature gas-oil boilers, electric boilers, and a 400 MWh heat storage system. The initiative aims to replace coal-based sources by the 2028/2029 heating season. During the Energy Days in Katowice, the group unveiled a large-scale transformation strategy designed to balance infrastructure investments with shareholder value. The plan includes estimated investment potentials of approximately 3.7 GW and 16.5 billion PLN across four key locations, alongside a commitment to invest 60 billion PLN in distribution networks by 2035. Grzegorz Lot, President of Tauron Polska Energia, stated the strategy is built on commercial principles to generate lasting economic value, including dividends, and may involve the ring-fencing of certain conventional assets to provide investor certainty. While such these investments are part of broader regional infrastructure developments, industry experts at Energy Days in Katowice have noted that the heating sector faces significant hurdles. Challenges include the national regulatory environment and the difficulty of implementing EU directives, with estimates suggesting the sector requires between 200 billion and 500 billion PLN to complete its necessary transformation.
