In response to the cancellation, Paul supported a fan-led petition on Change.org to release the scrapped episodes, which gained over 18,000 signatures. Paul has addressed the previous controversy, noting that legal authorities dismissed certain claims due to insufficient evidence. However, it has been noted that Paul previously pleaded guilty to aggravated assault regarding an incident with former partner Dakota Mortensen in 2023. The fifth season of the series is expected to feature a shortened format due to recent controversies and will address the fallout from incidents that occurred during filming. During a preview for the new season and via the ‘Get Real’ podcast, Paul revealed she accepted a marriage proposal from a contestant during the filming of the unaired ‘Bachelorette’ episodes. While she has not named the individual, castmates have suggested the contestant may be Doug Mason. ABC has not announced plans to release the ‘Bachelorette’ footage.
