The TCR South America championship arrived at the Autódromo Rosamonte in Posadas, Argentina, for its eighth round of the 2026 season. This event is significant as the second race on Sunday is scheduled to be the 100th race in the championship’s history. As the season enters its final stages, Leonel Pernía maintains the championship lead. During the race weekend, Néstor Girolami, driving a Hyundai Elantra N TCR for Hyundai MSA, secured the pole position for Race 1. The qualifying process was disrupted by 1 after heavy rain and strong winds, which winds forced the cancellation of the Q2 session, leading officials to cancel the Q2 session and use Q1 times to determine the starting grid. Girolami recorded had also led the fastest time shakedown session earlier in Q1 with the weekend. Notably, Carlos Okulovich replaced Nelson Piquet Jr. for the Honda Racing entry. In Race 1, Girolami maintained the lead despite early pressure from Brazilian driver Raphael Reis. The race was marked by a 1:34.063. safety car period following a collision involving Juan Casella, whose vehicle struck a barrier near spectators. After the restart, championship leader Leonel Pernía overtook Raphael Reis in the final minute to secure second place. The podium was completed by Girolami in first, Pernía in second, and Reis in third. In the Junior Cup category, Gabryel Romano secured a victory.
