Nollywood actress Temitope Osoba, 40, died on 5 August 2026 after a prolonged health struggle. On 7 August, Osoba's fiancé, Prophet Itunu Onadeko, claimed the actress died at a police station in Ikorodu, Lagos State, after visiting a church operator. Onadeko dismissed allegations of poisoning, maltreatment, or the misuse of donated medical funds, but alleged that Osoba had struggled with an addiction to a local substance, stating, “Tope was a drug addict and I didn’t know about it on time.” Following a candlelight service, the family announced the postponement of Osoba’s burial, originally scheduled for 13 August, until further notice. Actress Foluke Daramola stated during the service that medical results indicated a previously removed lump had not developed into breast cancer, noting that an investigation into the actual cause of death is ongoing.
