Police in Jammu and Kashmir have conducted operations targeting separatist and terrorist financial networks. In the Bandipora district, six individuals were arrested for alleged links to the banned organization Ittihad-ul-Muslimeen. Authorities claim the group engaged in propaganda and received between Rs 7 and 8 lakh in funding, some of which was transferred to a bank account and some via cash couriers. The investigation suggests that Waheed Ahmad Bhat re-established contact with a Pakistan-based handler following his release from jail. In a separate operation in the Shopian district, police arrested ten individuals for dismantling a terror fundraising module. Investigators used analysis of suspicious online financial transactions across multiple payment platforms to trace money trails. The accused were reportedly collecting funds from the public to facilitate terrorist activities through established financial links. Further details from the Shopian investigation indicate that the network was allegedly used to clandestinely collect funds to support the activities of Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) and its proxy, The Resistance Front (TRF). These funds were reportedly used to provide logistical assistance to terrorists, including the procurement of smartphones. The arrested individuals include residents from Shopian, Pulwama, and Kathua. Investigators have identified links between the suspects and terrorists currently lodged in various jails. A case has been registered at the Shopian Police Station, and officials stated that further investigations are underway to identify additional suspects and financial connections.
