The 46th annual Terry Fox Run took place on September 20, 2026, with participation expanding to approximately 650 communities across Canada. This year’s event continues to support the Terry Fox Foundation, which has surpassed the historic milestone of $1 billion raised for cancer research. Local fundraising efforts showed significant success across various regions. In Smithers, a $90,000 donation from the estate of Tom Mesich contributed to a record-breaking total, marking the largest individual donation received by the Terry Fox Foundation at any single run event in the country. Wingham also reported a record $42,000 raised during its 39th annual run. In Langley, more than 200 participants raised over $18,012. Other notable activities included Clearwater, which raised $2,326, and 100 Mile House, which hosted its first run in seven years, raising $1,407. In Burns Lake, the annual run held at the Francois Lake Community Hall raised $13,804, bringing the community’s total lifetime contribution to the Terry Fox Foundation to approximately $510,000. In Maple Ridge, hundreds of participants gathered at the Albion Fairgrounds with guest of honour Fred Fox. In Prince Albert, more than 200 participants, including members of the Prince Albert Raiders hockey team, raised $37,651. In Victoria, the run exceeded its $100,000 goal by raising nearly $110,000, while Campbell River has now raised over $250,000 since the event began. In Surrey, organizers welcomed special guest Alison Ince, a 91-year-old former nurse who served as Fox’s media liaison in 1981. In Belœil, at least 150 participants completed a 5 km course despite unfavorable weather, with organizers presenting an honorary plaque to Michel Cossette for his contributions. Additional regional successes include Kimberley, where the event raised $13,636—the highest total in the run's 37-year history—despite a bear sighting on the trail that required a route change.
