A week later, Governor Abbott responded with a concrete regulatory step, ordering the Electric Reliability Council of Texas (ERCOT) and the Texas Public Utility Commission (PUCT) to audit every data‑center project seeking grid interconnection. The audits will verify projected electricity and water consumption, ownership, financing, construction schedules, and environmental controls.
