The history of The Beatles’ ‘Abbey Road’ album cover involves a brief ten-minute photography session by Iain Macmillan in 1969. The shoot, which required local police to halt traffic, led to various urban legends, including the ‘Paul is Dead’ conspiracy theory regarding the band members’ attire and Paul McCartney’s bare feet. Building on this legacy, a massive cinematic project titled ‘The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event,’ directed by Sam Mendes, is currently in production. Distributed by Sony Pictures, the series is designed as four interconnected films, each told from the perspective of a different band member. The cast includes Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Paul Mescal as Paul McCartney, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr. Other notable cast members include Saoirse Ronan as Linda McCartney and James Norton as Brian Epstein. Production has recently moved to the legendary London crossing, where the actors were filmed recreating the iconic album cover. Footage of the ensemble walking across the zebra crossing outside Abbey Road Studios has since gone viral.
