British progressive rock band The Pineapple Thief announced released their upcoming seventeenth studio album, ‘Far and Wide’, which is scheduled for release on October 9, 2026. The band described the new material as having a rockier sound while maintaining an atmospheric and emotional identity. Following the initial announcement, the band released ‘God Knows’, the third single from the album. Band leader Bruce Soord noted the new material possesses a “reflective, autobiographical quality” and explained that the band used creative limitations during recording to achieve a more “authentic five-piece rock band sound”. Drummer Gavin Harrison added that arrangements were often influenced by how the music would translate to a live stage environment. The released album features nine songs characterized by a more concise musical approach. Soord noted a deliberate strategy of reduction, limiting guitar tracks to maintain a sound consistent with the band’s five-member live presence. Lyrical themes include societal shifts, civil courage, political engagement, and personal loss. Critics have highlighted Gavin Harrison’s technical contributions, describing him as an ‘ideas man’ whose rhythmic patterns interactively influence the songwriting and melodies of other members. In addition to the album release, the band announced an extensive headline tour across the UK and Europe for 2027, which includes scheduled performances in Spain. New tour details include dates in Portugal, with performances at República da Música in Lisbon and Casa da Música in Porto on March 14 and 16.
