Authorities in Colombia have initiated legal actions following incidents involving First Lady Ana Lucía Pineda. On October 20, police in Pereira arrested a man for allegedly issuing intimidating messages against the First Lady and her family via Instagram. During the raid, officials seized a computer and a mobile phone as evidence. By October 22, the Attorney General's Office opened a separate criminal investigation into cartoonist Julio César González Quiceno, known as ‘Matador’. This investigation follows allegations of harassment against the First Lady and has been assigned to a prosecutor within the Gender Group to determine criminal relevance. On October 24, details emerged that the probe into González Quiceno was initiated ex officio by the Gender-Based Violence Group due to concerns regarding potential violence against women. The investigation specifically targets an alleged aggravated insult following a post on X (formerly Twitter) in which the cartoonist referred to the First Lady as ‘ratita’. This comment was made while questioning the distribution of aid following a 7.4 magnitude earthquake in Pereira in August 2026. In response to the investigation, González Quiceno posted sarcastic remarks on social media regarding the possibility of imprisonment. Meanwhile, the First Lady’s foundation, Colombia Luz y Sonrisas, reported receiving over 54 billion pesos in donations intended for earthquake reconstruction efforts.
