Thyssenkrupp is undergoing significant corporate restructuring and financial shifts. In late July 2026, the company completed the sale of its HKM division to Salzgitter AG and prepared for an extraordinary shareholders’ meeting regarding the spin-off and planned IPO of its materials-services unit, tk accelis. During this period, Thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (TKMS) also withdrew an unsolicited offer to acquire German Naval Yards Kiel. By mid-August 2026, the group reported improved third-quarter results, with adjusted EBIT rising 18% to 183 million euros on sales of 8.8 billion euros. While the group's net income turned positive at 34 million euros for the quarter, it reported a net loss of 353 million euros for the first nine months of the fiscal year, largely due to 544 million euros in extraordinary restructuring provisions, primarily within the Steel Europe segment. In response to improved performance in steel, materials services, and marine systems, the company raised its full-year adjusted EBIT guidance to a range of 600 million to 900 million euros. However, management lowered its full-year sales outlook, expecting a decline of 1% to 3% due to subdued demand and macroeconomic uncertainty. TKMS continues to experience a significant boom, maintaining an order backlog of approximately 20 billion euros. Driven by high demand for submarines and surface vessels from European and international clients, including Norway, India, and various Gulf states, TKMS raised its annual revenue forecast to a growth of 10% to 12%, up from previous estimates of 2% to 5%. TKMS CEO Oliver Burkhard noted that while demand is exceptionally strong, the company faces challenges regarding shipyard capacity and skilled labor shortages.
