The provincial Ministry of Education has implemented the Pedagogical Compensation Plan, referred to as ‘Ampliación del tiempo efectivo de enseñanza presencial’ (Expansion of effective in-person teaching time). The initiative is designed to recover instructional hours lost during the 2026 school cycle due to building maintenance and regularization tasks. The first phase, the Learning Advancement Device (DAA), runs from August 29 through December 12. This phase requires mandatory Saturday classes from 10:00 to 12:00 for students in 1st through 6th year at Provincial School No. 19 ‘Primera Legislatura’ in Río Grande and Provincial School No. 24 ‘Juan Ruiz Galán’ in Ushuaia. Instruction during these sessions will prioritize essential curricula, specifically Language Practices and Mathematics, in accordance with guidelines from the Federal Council of Education. The program addresses the impact of prolonged closures at these specific schools caused by infrastructure and safety concerns. concerns, including issues such as carbon monoxide exposure and building leaks.
