Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2027

Overview

The Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2027 have been released, evaluating 2,297 institutions across 118 countries based on 18 performance indicators across five pillars: teaching, research environment, research quality, international outlook, and industry/university collaboration.

In Cyprus, the University of Cyprus was ranked in the 501–550 global band. In Northern Cyprus, four universities received recognition: Near East University (501–550), Lefke European University (601–650), International Cyprus University (651–700), and Eastern Mediterranean University (701–800). Lefke European University made its debut in the rankings.

In Turkey, the rankings feature 124 universities. Koç University and Middle East Technical University (ODTÜ) shared the top national positions, both appearing in the 326–350 global band with scores between 52.3 and 53.3. Other notable institutions include Sabancı University, Boğaziçi University, Istanbul Technical University, and Bilkent University. The top 10 in Turkey also includes Hacettepe University, Istanbul Nişantaşı University, Erciyes University, Istanbul University, and Süleyman Demirel University.

Specific institutional progress was noted for Atatürk University, which maintained its 801–1000 global position while rising to 7th nationally and 4th among state universities. Additionally, Tekirdağ Namık Kemal University maintained its presence for a second consecutive year, with its total score increasing from 83.7 to 88.9 due to improvements in research quality.
