British speedway rider Tom Brennan faced significant professional uncertainty in Poland during the 2026 season. Initially, Brennan was expected to miss the remainder of the season with Abramczyk Polonia Bydgoszcz after receiving only three rides, leading to his replacement by Aleksander Łoktajew. Following this period of inactivity, the Speedway Ekstraliga revoked Brennan’s permission to compete in the Polish league. The sanction was triggered by a violation of club affiliation regulations after Brennan participated in a Danish league match on July 29. Because he was already competing in England and Sweden, the Danish appearance exceeded the permitted limit of two foreign leagues. As a result of the breach, match results involving Brennan were adjusted, including the deduction of six points from a recent match with H. Skrzydlewska Orzeł. Abramczyk Polonia Bydgoszcz president Jerzy Kanclerz noted that the club had previously warned the rider against competing in Denmark, though Brennan had reportedly signed a short-term contract believing it would not affect his status. However, the club has since successfully resolved Brennan’s eligibility status. Following administrative actions to clarify his contract status, Brennan has been reinstated and cleared to compete in the upcoming play-off phase, beginning with the semi-final against H. Skrzydlewska Orzeł Łódź. This resolution comes as Abramczyk Polonia Bydgoszcz maintains an undefeated record in the Metalkas 2. Ekstraliga.
