Tour de France Femmes 2026 – Launch & Yellow Jersey Defence

Entities: Pauline Ferrand‑Prévot · Mont Ventoux · UAE Team L'IMAD · Blasiová · Lotte Kopecky

Overview

The fifth edition of the Tour de France Femmes runs 1–9 August 2026 over nine stages, beginning in Lausanne and finishing in Nice after a summit finish on Mont Ventoux on stage 7 and a finale with four climbs of the Col d’Èze. The 1 175 km route includes a 21‑km individual time trial and terrain reminiscent of Liège‑Bastogne‑Liège.

A peloton of 147 riders from 21 WorldTour and invited ProTeams features defending champion Pauline Ferrand‑Prévot, who says she has “nothing to lose, I already won the Tour” and will defend the yellow jersey under her team’s “Project Yellow”. Visma | Lease a Bike has built a very heavy race plan, with an early‑season programme that is less brutal but produces higher power outputs than the previous year. Team manager Rutger Tijssen highlighted the decisive Mont Ventoux finish.

The squad includes five Dutch riders – Marianne Vos (road captain and versatile stage hunter), Lieke Nooijen, Daniek Hengeveld, Femke de Vries and Sarah van Dam – plus French rider Marion Bunel. Other top contenders are former winners Demi Vollering, Kasia Niewiadoma, Anna van der Breggen, Elisa Longo Borghini, Marlen Reusser and newcomer Elisabeth Ebras, the first Estonian woman to ride the Tour.

Local authorities in France and the Swiss canton of Freiburg have announced temporary road closures and traffic restrictions for the opening and mountain stages, while organisers prepare fan zones and activation programmes along the route. The race also marks the rebranding of UAE Team ADQ to UAE Team L'IMAD with a new jersey.
