In late September, a mechanic known locally as ‘El Jarocho’ died in Orizaba, Veracruz, after a tourist bus reportedly fell while he was performing maintenance to change a tire. Authorities investigated the incident to determine if a failure in the vehicle's support system caused the accident. On October 17, another fatal incident involving a tourist bus occurred on the Puebla-Orizaba highway in the Cumbres de Maltrata section. A bus carrying 42 occupants from Mexico City to Tabasco reportedly experienced brake failure while descending a curve. Although the driver successfully used a braking ramp, the sudden deceleration resulted in one elderly woman dying from chest trauma and 14 others sustaining injuries. The Veracruz State Attorney General's Office is investigating the mechanical failure. On October 18, additional transport-related incidents were reported on the Puebla-Orizaba highway, including a collision between a truck and a Guardia Nacional patrol, as well as a tractor-trailer crash that resulted in a diesel and oil spill.
