Police in Toyama Prefecture are investigating a robbery in Toyama City involving a man in his 50s who was allegedly attacked by three men, believed to be foreign nationals. The suspects reportedly used physical force force, including elbow strikes, to steal an envelope containing 2 million yen from the victim’s backpack before fleeing in a vehicle toward the Jinzu River area. No weapons were reported to have been used. Authorities have linked the robbery to a special fraud case. A 58-year-old man, Koichi Murata, was referred to prosecutors on suspicion of acting as a ‘receiver’ after allegedly defrauding a woman in her 70s of 2 million yen and a gold bar. Investigators believe the robbery was motivated by the suspects targeting the cash and valuables Murata had obtained through the fraud.
