Türkiye Petrolleri Anonim Ortaklığı (TPAO) is expanding its international and domestic energy exploration and production activities. In Pakistan, TPAO has commenced natural gas production at the Lundali-1 well in the Sukhpur-II Block. Holding a 15% stake in the block alongside local partners, the well has produced 103 million cubic meters of gas to date. Future plans in the region include seismic studies and potential exploration across three offshore and two onshore sites. In Somalia, TPAO signed an offshore exploration and production-sharing agreement with the Somali Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, granting exclusive rights to three maritime concession blocks. The seismic research vessel Oruç Reis has been deployed for geological surveys in Somali waters. Domestically, TPAO has secured extensions for onshore oil exploration licenses in Şırnak and Batman until ~~2028 and~~ 2028. In the Black Sea, the company has applied to ~~expand~~ the General Directorate of Mining and Petroleum Affairs (MAPEG) for an oil production license covering 56,774 hectares within its existing exploration zones, specifically the C26 map section. This area falls within Türkiye’s maritime jurisdiction, including its Exclusive Economic Zone and continental shelf. Furthermore, TPAO’s oil exploration license for the Kara area in ~~Tekirdağ.~~ Tekirdağ, covering 12,160 hectares, has been extended from May 31, 2026, to May 31, 2028, to further evaluate hydrocarbon potential.
