Urban development and infrastructure projects are advancing in Trabzon, Turkey. Construction has accelerated on the Gülcemal Project along the Beşirli coastline, which includes land reclamation and the development of the Uzunkum Living Area. This project aims to provide recreational spaces for various age groups and implement biological treatment systems to help the region regain its Blue Flag status. On September 10, a groundbreaking ceremony was held for the Uzunkum Living Area Project, formerly known as the Gülcemal Project. The event was attended by Minister of Environment, Urbanization, and Climate Change Murat Kurum. Trabzon Metropolitan Municipality Mayor Ahmet Metin Genç announced that the construction period is set for 461 days, with the area expected to be open to the public in approximately one and a half years. The first phase, involving the reorganization of about one kilometer of the coastline, is targeted for completion within roughly one year. In addition to the Gülcemal Project, regional officials have highlighted Uzunkum project, AK Parti Trabzon Provincial Chairman Sezgin Mumcu confirmed that several other major infrastructure initiatives intended are underway to fulfill election promises. These include progress on a Light Rail System Project, the completion of a tender for a new airport, and ongoing works on Kanuni Boulevard, the South Ring Road, and the City Hospital.
