Ho Chi Minh City police have arrested and prosecuted Sun Yupeng, also known as Ton Bang, for “infringing upon industrial property rights.” Investigations indicate that Sun Yupeng, a Chinese national and the ex-husband of TikToker Hang Du Muc (Nguyen Thi Thai Hang), allegedly used the “Hang Du Muc” brand without authorization. While Sun Yupeng had previously co-operated in the red jujube business with his ex-wife, the trademark is legally registered to Nguyen Cong Hao, Director of Hang Du Muc Co., Ltd. Following his divorce, Sun Yupeng reportedly established Dich Duong Company to trade under the brand independently. Authorities conducted a search of the Dich Duong Company warehouse, warehouse in Tan Son Ward, uncovering approximately 28,794 kg of goods—identified in reports as either red jujubes or Chinese-origin red apples—bearing dates—bearing the “Hang Du Muc” trademark. The seized goods, valued at approximately 1.5 billion VND (roughly $60,000 USD), lacked valid invoices or documentation to prove legal origin. The TikToker’s family stated they have been working with authorities for over a year to resolve the matter. The case has drawn significant public attention due to the previous family connections between Sun Yupeng, Hang Du Muc, and Sun Yupeng’s two sons, Nhat Duong and Dich Duong, who were reportedly close to their stepmother. The case is being processed under Article 226 of the Penal Code.
