Traffic safety concerns have been highlighted in the state of Paraná through reports of accidents and subsequent enforcement operations. In Paranavaí, data from the 8th Military Police Battalion showed 695 traffic accidents through August. Authorities identified driver inattention, speeding, and failure to obey signals as contributing factors. In response, local officials conducted an educational blitz during National Traffic Week to promote road safety. During the Nossa Senhora Aparecida holiday period, a Federal Highway Police (PRF) operation across Paraná recorded 98 accidents, resulting in 110 injuries and four deaths. The PRF cited causes such as alcohol consumption, incompatible speeds, and inefficient driver reactions. Enforcement efforts during this period included 1,811 breathalyzer tests, which identified 45 intoxicated drivers, and 1,968 instances of speeding. Subsequent reporting on the Nossa Senhora Aparecida holiday period indicated that while state highways in Paraná saw a 32.9% decrease in accidents compared to the previous year, fatalities remained high. The PRF noted widespread speeding, with some vehicles recorded exceeding 170 km/h. Other significant issues identified during the period included alcohol-related offenses and the improper use of child safety seats. Broadening the scope to the national holiday period from October 9 to 12, the PRF reported 68 deaths and 969 injuries across 926 occurrences throughout Brazil. Enforcement operations focused heavily on the states of São Paulo and Pará to assist pilgrims. During these operations, authorities inspected 124,899 people and vehicles, recording 22,077 speeding violations and 747 cases of drunk driving or refusal of breathalyzer tests. The operation also resulted in 356 arrests and the seizure of 2.2 tons of marijuana and 34 kg of cocaine. Regional data from this national period showed varied outcomes. In outcomes: in Goiás, the PRF recorded over 4,200 speeding violations and five deaths, while Mato Grosso reported five deaths in 25 accidents. In Rio Grande do Norte, four deaths were reported alongside the seizure of weapons and explosives.
