To mark the 30th anniversary of the film ‘Trainspotting’, a 4K restoration is being released through various international theatrical channels. In Mexico, Cinemex previously announced the film would return to theaters via Cinemex Alternativo on 20 August 2026. ~~Meanwhile,~~ Additionally, the Cineteca Nuevo León ‘Alejandra Rangel Hinojosa’ has scheduled a special season for the 4K restored screening, which will run from 20 August to 13 September in Sala 1. In the United Kingdom, the Edinburgh International Film Festival hosted a ‘Trainspotting live’ event at the Leith Theatre. This event featured a screening accompanied by live commentary from cast and crew, including actor Ewan McGregor and author Irvine Welsh. Following the festival event, Park Circus is scheduled to begin a theatrical release of the 4K restoration on 21 August.
