Lecce has secured Portuguese center-back Tiago Gabriel with a contract extension running until June 2030. This move was intended to provide the Italian club with leverage amid interest from several Premier League sides, including Brentford, which previously had a transfer proposal rejected. Other clubs such as Crystal Palace, Fulham, and AC Milan have also been linked to the 21-year-old. Following the extension, Fiorentina has identified Gabriel as a primary target to strengthen their defense during the January transfer window. Fiorentina faces potential competition from AC Milan for the player, whose market value is estimated at approximately 25 million euros. Recent reports indicate that while AC Milan entered negotiations in late August, the move failed to materialize because management deemed the costs too high and coach Ruben Amorim was not fully convinced by the signing. Lecce is reportedly seeking a fee between €30 million and €40 million, despite some valuations placing him closer to €15 million. Fiorentina management, including Fabio Paratici, views the 21-year-old as a key component for a long-term defensive project. Gabriel, who stands nearly 1.95 meters tall, has recently demonstrated his presence in Serie A, including scoring a header in a match against Fiorentina.
