In Ho Chi Minh City, falling trees have caused fatalities and significant traffic disruptions. On September 18, a large tree branch fell onto a bus and a motorcycle on An Duong Vuong Street during heavy rain and strong winds. The accident resulted in the death of a 59-year-old man and injured his wife. Local authorities announced plans to coordinate with the Ho Chi Minh City Green Park Company to inspect and prune trees to ensure public safety. On October 7, a large tree uprooted at the intersection of Dinh Tien Hoang and Vo Thi Sau streets during the morning rush hour. While no injuries were reported as pedestrians and vendors managed to escape, the fallen tree caused severe traffic congestion in the Tan Dinh Ward area. Police and militia forces worked to redirect traffic and clear the debris. On October 9, two large flame trees uprooted in Tan Hung ward, striking utility poles and damaging parked vehicles. In response to these recurring incidents, the City Department of Construction has issued directives to intensify inspections of urban greenery. Authorities are focusing on reviewing street trees, parks, and residential greenery to identify and replace trees that are diseased, aged, or structurally unstable, particularly those whose root systems may have been compromised by construction projects.
