The Tri-County Humane Society has initiated several efforts to promote animal adoption and fundraising. Early in September, the organization highlighted individual pets available for adoption and announced its upcoming annual fundraiser, ‘Woofstock’, scheduled for September 26th at Wilson Park. The event aims to exceed the previous year’s net profit of $50,000. By mid-September, the society launched a special adoption sale to further assist animals in finding permanent homes. The promotion included discounted rates for cats and dogs, specifically offering cats aged six months or older for $5, a 50% discount on kittens, and a 50% reduction for dogs aged six months or older. These sale terms applied only to animals that were already spayed or neutered and ready for immediate placement. On September 20, the St. Cloud, Minnesota, shelter announced further fee reductions following a donation. While the adoption fee for a two-year-old cat named Nimbus was fully covered, all other cats at the shelter have had their adoption fees reduced by half. In October, as part of ‘Adopt a Shelter Pet Month’, the society is promoting the adoption of Sammy, a 4-year-old, 40-pound dog. Her adoption fee has been reduced. Sammy is described as happy and excited, though she may be jumpy around children and tends to chase cats. To assist with her transition, her adoption includes one training session through Sapphire Canine in Foley.
