Following the death of prominent Iranian actor Akbar Abdi at age 66, his family and local authorities have initiated several tributes to honor his career in cinema, theater, and television. Initially, his family announced the donation of personal belongings and honorary plaques to a museum in Ardabil to preserve his legacy. Plans were also discussed regarding the naming of a location in Ardabil in his honor. Subsequently, the family installed a new commissioned tombstone at his grave in the Behesht-e Zahra cemetery, featuring the inscription “I ‘I came, I made them laugh, and I left.” left.’ Additionally, the Tehran City Council approved a proposal to rename ‘Bidar’ Street in Tehran’s District 1 to Akbar Abdi Street. On the first anniversary of his birthday since his passing, family and colleagues shared further tributes. His daughter, Elmira Abdi, posted a message on social media noting that she spent the day at his grave rather than celebrating with candles. Veteran actress Gohar Kheirandish also honored his memory by sharing a video of Abdi, describing him as a ‘brilliant artist’ and a ‘dear friend’ who emphasized love and appreciation during their final meetings.
