Meteorological agencies have been monitoring multiple tropical systems in the Pacific and South China Sea. The Japan Meteorological Agency reports the typhoon is nearly stationary with a central pressure of 996 hPa and maximum wind gusts of 25 m/s, with a projected path toward the Amami Islands and Kyushu. Concurrently, an active autumn rain front has been moving southward, bringing widespread heavy rain from Western to Eastern Japan. By September 4, the combined influence of Typhoon 24 and the rain front has triggered heavy rain warnings across various regions. Southern Kyushu faces expected rainfall of up to 250mm through Saturday, while Okinawa and surrounding islands experience stormy conditions with thunderstorms. Recent updates indicate that some areas in southern Kyushu have already recorded rainfall exceeding 500mm, resulting in high soil moisture levels and an increased risk of landslides. As the weather intensifies, the Japan Meteorological Agency has warned of the potential formation of ‘linear precipitation zones’ in prefectures including Aichi, Mie, Shizuoka, Ibaraki, Tochigi, and Gunma.
