Pop artist Troye Sivan has released his fourth studio album, ‘She’s The Best’, via Interscope Records. The 12-track project is characterized as his most experimental work to date, marking a departure from the dance-pop focus of his 2023 album, ‘Something to Give Each Other’. The album blends genres such as trip-hop, house, shoegaze, breakbeat, drum and bass, glitch-hop, and 1990s-inspired electronic pop. Following the release of the single ‘Party’, which features narration by Ian McKellen and a sample of Madonna’s ‘Music’, the album launch included the single ‘FF’ (short for ‘Fuck Forever’). The track is accompanied by a music video directed by Gordon von Steiner, filmed in Fire Island and starring actor Felix Mayr. Sivan described ‘FF’ as a song regarding a future romantic connection with a partner he has yet to meet, and has referred to it as the “gayest music video” of his career. The project serves as a musical diary, exploring themes ranging from club life and physical desire to loneliness and the longing for intimacy. It features collaborations with Jack Antonoff and George Daniel, as well as a vocal appearance by Lily-Rose Depp on the closing song, ‘Lost Time’. Following the release, Sivan addressed online criticism regarding his personal brand. In response to social media comments suggesting his brand revolves solely around his sexual orientation, Sivan posted a blunt rebuttal on Instagram, stating, “I am gay,” and repeating the phrase. Since its release, ‘She’s The Best’ has achieved commercial recognition, topping Billboard’s weekly new music poll with 56% of the total vote, outperforming recent projects from artists such as Cardi B and Slayyyter. Sivan has noted that the album title reflects the stability and support provided by the women in his life.
