Truck bridge obstructions in Thessaloniki

Overview

In late September, a truck became stuck under a bridge on the Thessaloniki Ring Road near Polychne after attempting to pass under the structure despite exceeding the height limit. No injuries or collisions with other vehicles were reported during this initial incident.

On October 8, a similar incident occurred at the Agion Panion Bridge in Thessaloniki. A white truck, being transported on a recovery vehicle following a mechanical failure, became wedged under the bridge due to a failure to correctly calculate the combined height of the transport vehicle and its load. This second incident caused significant traffic disruptions, leading police to close the lane toward Monastiriou Street and implement vehicle diversions.
